Focus

Our focus is the planet. We are signatories of UK Architects Declare, and we honour that commitment in the everyday choices of practice — designing with care, wisdom and sensitivity to lower the carbon our buildings emit. Our strategy is to be local: local makers, local supply chains, and materials that come from close to hand. We place natural resources at the centre of our design thinking, choosing timber, stone and lime over concrete and plastic wherever we can.

Method

Architecture is made with people, for people. A building project is one of the biggest things our clients ever take on, so we look after the person as well as the project — clear guidance at every stage, honest advice on cost and programme, and steady support when decisions feel heavy. The same spirit runs through our studio: Unit 13, in London Fields, is a place to practise socially and sociably — shared with collaborators and open for suppers, screenings and talks.

We are a design-led team based in London Fields, Hackney, with deep roots in North Norfolk. Led by Alexander Hills, the practice takes on residential and commercial projects at every scale — and we are always glad to talk about a new one.
