FAQs
Residential Architecture – FAQs
1. What residential architectural services do you offer in London and Norfolk?
We provide a full range of residential architectural services, including feasibility studies, planning applications, detailed design (RIBA Stages 1–6), interior architecture, furniture design, and on-site support. We work with homeowners, self-builders, and private clients on extensions, refurbishments, new-build homes, and conservation projects across London and Norfolk.
————
2. Can you help with planning permission for house extensions or renovations?
Yes. We regularly prepare and submit planning applications for residential extensions, alterations, and new homes. This includes feasibility studies, pre-application advice, conservation area submissions, and listed building consent where required. We design proposals that respond carefully to local authority policies while maximising spatial and design quality.
————
3. Do you work with self-builders and owner-occupiers?
Absolutely. We frequently work with self-builders and owner-occupiers who want a high level of design involvement. Our role can range from early feasibility and concept design through to construction detailing and contract administration. We ensure that the project is realistic in terms of budget, programme, and buildability, while maintaining design integrity.
————
4. Do you provide interior architecture and furniture design as part of a residential project?
Yes. We integrate interior architecture and bespoke furniture design into many of our residential projects. This includes kitchens, joinery, built-in storage, material palettes, and custom furniture pieces. Considering interiors early in the design process ensures spatial coherence and long-term durability.
————
5. How much does it cost to hire a residential architect?
Fees vary depending on project size, complexity, and scope of service. For residential projects, we typically offer staged services aligned with the RIBA Plan of Work. We provide a clear written fee proposal following an initial discussion and feasibility review, ensuring transparency around deliverables and responsibilities.
Commercial Architecture – FAQs
1. What types of commercial projects do you specialise in?
We design commercial fit-outs and refurbishments for offices, retail spaces, shops, studios, and small commercial buildings. Our work focuses on spatial efficiency, material quality, and brand identity — creating environments that are both operationally effective and architecturally distinctive.
————
2. Can you help improve efficiency in an existing office or studio space?
Yes. We assess existing layouts and building performance to improve spatial efficiency, workflow, and environmental quality. This may involve reconfiguring circulation, increasing natural light, improving acoustic performance, or rationalising storage and service zones to maximise usable area.
————
3. Do you provide full commercial fit-out services from concept to completion?
We can deliver commercial projects from feasibility and concept design through planning (if required), technical design, tender coordination, and on-site contract administration. We work closely with contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM requirements, and programme constraints.
————
4. How do you approach retail or shop design?
Retail and shop projects require a balance between brand expression and operational clarity. We design spaces that support customer flow, display strategy, and staff functionality. Material selection, lighting, and detailing are carefully considered to create strong identity while maintaining durability and cost control.
————
5. How do you manage programme and budget on commercial projects?
Commercial projects often operate under tight time and financial constraints. We begin with a clear brief, define scope carefully, and coordinate closely with cost consultants and contractors where required. Early technical resolution reduces risk during construction and helps maintain programme certainty.
